Travels With Bowie & D.O.G.: Las Vegas!

In the past six years, my dogs and I have seen a lot of this country. I take a lot of photos when I travel and my favorites are usually the shots with my border collie mixes Bowie and Dio (short for D.O.G.). Without the dogs, it’s just a pretty picture, but with them  it’s a place I’ve been, a place I know and love. From time to time I’ll post some of my favorite photos on here from my travels with Bowie and D.O.G. Today: Las Vegas, Nevada!

When I travel with the dogs, I usually avoid cities. For a couple of country dogs, they adapt remarkably well to city streets, but they have to be on a leash, which is no fun for any of us. Occasionally, I make exceptions. Last week, my friend Becky and I had tickets to the Professional Bull Riding World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. I thought briefly about leaving the dogs with a friend, but since we were going to take a few days to road trip across Arizona to Sin City, hiking and camping along the way, I decided to bring them along.

Las Vegas might be the least dog friendly city I’ve ever visited. The only place that allowed dogs was Motel 6, all the grass was astroturf and the whole time we were there, we only saw one other dog. Nevertheless, it was fun walking the boys down the Vegas strip!

  1. Love your blogs – it makes us want to get on a plane and visit all those wonderful places. We live in the south of the UK, in Hampshire (the OLD one), we have a forest here, the New Forest (219sqm) and we live on a small heath in the north of the county. We enjoy sharing your exploits with the dogs…keep ’em coming…
